Welcome to the memorial page for

Jacquelyn Lourie Greenwade

April 27, 1935 ~ July 6, 2014 (age 79) 79 Years Old
Jacquelyn Lourie Greenwade finished her amazing life on this earth on July 6, 2014. She was born in Mexico, Missouri on April 27, 1938 to Hazel Coker Hirsch and Cassom Seymour Hirsch. She spent most of her youth in Whitney, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Leonard Walton Greenwade. Jackie and Leonard were married on July 8, 1956. They moved to Pasadena, Texas as newlyweds and began their family with the birth of a son, Albert Walton (“Skip”) on January 29, 1958. Their second son, Kyle Ritchie, was born on April 25, 1962. The family continued to make their home in Pasadena until June 1968, when they moved to Crosby, Texas.
Jackie devoted the ensuing years to her family, but still found time for her friends. This was a good thing, because she – quite literally – never met a stranger! In addition to her family and friends, Jackie gave of her time in a variety of volunteer roles, to include singing in the choir at Crosby United Methodist Church, serving as a teacher at Lake Houston Christian School, a dispatcher and ambulance driver for Crosby Emergency Medical Service, and as a committed volunteer in the sorting room at her beloved Churches United in Caring.
Even though she loathed air travel, Jackie could occasionally be talked into traveling with her family, making several trips to Europe, as well as visits to the East and West coasts. She looked forward each year to her regular trips to the Military Antiques Xtravaganza (The MAX Show) in Pittsburgh, PA and to New Orleans for Halloween.
As previously mentioned, Jackie had an unbridled love for the people she knew and came to know over the course of her life. She had a knack for turning a trip to the grocery store, Hector’s Mexican Restaurant, or Wal-Mart into a social event. She made just about any event or gathering she attended better just by being there.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cassom Seymour (“Jack”) Hirsch, her mother Hazel Coker Hirsch Woodside, and stepfather William Ritchie Woodside, her husband Leonard, and brother Robert Seymour Hirsch. She is survived by her son Skip and wife Gabrielle, son Kyle and wife Carol, grandson Collin, Nephew Johnny Leonard Greenwade and wife Kris, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Sterling-White Funeral Home, 11011 FM-2100 in Highlands on Friday, July 11, from 5:00PM to 8:00PM. Her funeral service will be held at Crosby United Methodist Church, 1334 Runneburg Road in Crosby on Saturday, July 12 at 2:00PM, with burial at Sterling-White Cemetery following the service. Her family and friends are asked to be part of a celebration of her life at her home following the ceremonies.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be made in Jackie’s memory to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, Crosby United Methodist Church, Crosby Fair and Rodeo, or to the charity of your choice.
