Myrtle Marie Granger Benoit born April 21, 1932 Lake Charles, LA went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior and reunite with her husband of 61 years Eddie Benoit. Myrtle was preceded in death by parents Leo Granger and Mary Fontenot Granger Chaumont, husband Eddie J Benoit and daughter Pamela Faye Benoit. She leaves behind daughter Peggy West (Gary); sons Eddie J Benoit (Ruth); Jules Alvin Benoit (Teresa); sister, Bonnie Beard of Lake Charles; sister-in-law, Lula Mae Mott of Sulphur, LA; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and God children. Born a farmer’s daughter, she grew up knowing what hard work was all about. There wasn’t much she couldn’t do on her own. She loved to cook and to sew for her family, but she also loved to spend time with her husband dancing and they were very good at it. Myrtle was a woman of many talents and a heart bigger than the many things she tackled. Retiring from Apple Tree (formerly Safeway) she took care of her home, husband and canine friend Buddy before falling ill. She spent the last eight and half years at Rehab and Healthcare of Baytown where she was cared for as if she was family. The family would like to give special thanks to her long-time physician Dr Chris Hays; the entire staff of Rehab and Healthcare of Baytown and the amazing staff of Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital. Those involved in Ms. Benoit’s care the last few days of her life were simply amazing. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday July, 21, 2014 from 5-8pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 2pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home with burial following at Sterling-White Cemetery.
