Jo Ann Tolleson

June 27, 1933 ~ February 23, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Jo Ann Tolleson, 83, of La Porte, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017. She was born on June 27, 1933 in Port Arthur, Texas to Charles Stephens and Myrtle Landry Stephens.  Jo Ann moved to Baytown in the early 1960’s where she resided until moving to La Porte in 2014.  She was a great home maker who took pride in caring for her family.  Later, when her children were older, she went to work in Food Services at Baytown Jr. High School.  Her family knew her as the Pie Queen and she made the best chocolate and coconut cream pies.  Jo Ann loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. Jo Ann enjoyed bowling and belonged to the Baytown and La Porte Bowling League Association.  She had an incredible talent for crocheting afghans for her family and those who have one consider them a treasure. Jo Ann was also the un-official coach/statistician for the Houston Rockets and Astros, coaching every game from her recliner.  Her greatest joy and comfort came from reading her Bible and attending church on Sunday for worship and praise.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years Joe Tolleson; parents; siblings, Charles, Bunky, L.C. and Michael Stephens, Mary Howell and Amy Harmon.

Jo Ann is survived by her children Tammie and husband Paul Brown, Todd and wife Tonja Tolleson, Marijane and husband Dale Beene; Grandchildren include Jake and wife Renee Carroll, Lisa and husband Wade Schrock, Breanne Brown, Brian and wife Jamie Tolleson, Shane Tolleson and husband Sean Garcia, Ian Tolleson, Dakota and Tyler Beene;  Great-grandchildren include:  Skyler, Conner and Carson Edmonds, Sloan Carroll, Mason Schrock, Leo and Lucy Tolleson, Scarlett Beene;  Beloved sister Janie and husband James Trahan; sisters in law Margaret, Lucy, Sue and Jackie Stephens; Close cousin Peggy Hilbun;  and many nephews and nieces that were dear to heart.
