Josephine Mae Stewart

March 4, 1942 ~ February 23, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Josephine “Mae” Stewart, 74, a resident of Highlands, Texas for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2017. She was born on March 4, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Joseph Frances Riordan and Hazel Mae Flint Riordan. Josephine, simply known to many as “Mae”, was a true lover of God, family, friends and life. She was a quick-witted successful business woman who never met a stranger and loved having people around her. Many knew her as their Florist serving the community of Highlands, as “Bouquets By Mae” where her talent shined for over 15 years. Through her generous spirit she loved helping others and visiting those in need. Although she battled her own health issues over the past several years which kept her from doing many of the things she loved; she continued to be concerned with the welfare of others right up until “her work here on earth was finished”.  Mae will be dearly missed and certainly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Joe Riordan Jr., and Robert Riordan.

Mae is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles Stewart; daughters, JoAnn Wheat and her husband Jim, and Charlene Edmoundson; son, Bryce Stewart and his wife Caryn; sisters, Lee Chandler, Ina Boaz, and Tony Kadelbach; brother, Jimmy Riordan; granddaughters, Jodi Manfred, Victoria Lakey-Wheat, Lacee Stark and Peyton Stewart; grandsons, Christopher Gantt and Bryce Stewart; great-granddaughters, Maekenna Manfred and Kadee Stark; great-grandsons, Joshua Manfred Jr., Tristan Stark and Christian Gantt; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
