Mary Ruth Ballard

Mary Ruth Ballard, 80 passed away at home on Sunday, May 28, 2017.  She was born in McCall Creek, MS on November 4, 1936 to Hiram and India Ballard.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Merle Weeks and Margie Kemp and niece June Gordon.

She is survived by her family, Ruth Ann Taylor; Sue Pace and husband Mike;  Michael and Leah Pace and their children Cassidy and Emma; David and Kelley Taylor and their children, Katelyn and Ryan; Stephen and Carolyn Pace and their children, Oliver and Jordyn;  Joey and Kelly Taylor and son, Bentley;  and Dennis Gordon and son Jeffrey Gordon.  

She obtained her Bachelor and Master’s Degree from Mississippi College. Mary Ruth taught school in MS, LA and finished her career of 50 years with LaPorte ISD.  Education and learning were so very important to her she always set high standards for her students.

She was a long time member of First Baptist Church Baytown, attending regularly until her health prevented her from attending. 

Her family will celebrate her life on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 with visitation at Sterling-White from 2pm to  3pm  followed by a funeral service at 3pm.  Rev. Bill Ingram of South Main Baptist, Pasadena and Rev. Alan Beck of Memorial Baptist, Baytown.  Burial will follow at Sterling-White Cemetery.  Memorials in her memory should go to Memorial Baptist Church, 600 W. Sterling, Baytown, TX 77520
