Sara Leslie Dowies

Sara Leslie Dowies, 49, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 9, 2017. She was born on June 11, 1968 in Baytown, Texas to Leslie Schmidt, Sr. and Sara Carpenter Schmidt. Sara earned her Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice and worked as an Executive Assistant for many years. She was a sweetheart, always helping others, and very loving. Sara enjoyed crafts, watching Law and Order, and going to the deer camp. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sara and Leslie Schmidt, Sr.; brother, Leslie Schmidt, Jr.; nephew, Michael D. Baldwin; and father-in-law, Ralph L. Dowies, Sr.

Sara is survived by her beloved husband, Kenneth Dowies; sons, Anthony Dowies and wife Amy, Aaron Dowies and wife Christie, and Joshua Dowies and wife Michelle; mother-in-law, Ethel Jean Dowies; sisters, Linda Wilson and husband Dennis, Cheryle Schmidt, Angela Webb and husband Steven, Laura Baldwin and husband Perry, Adell Buck and Coligny, and Katherine Stoagall and husband James; in-laws, Carl Dowies and wife Tracy, Ralph Dowies and wife Candy, Jeff Dowies, Mary Kay and husband Dawson, Margret Sutton and husband Chris; grandchildren, Emily Winchester, Joshua Dowies, Johnathan Dowies, Jacob Dowies, Hanna Dowies, Grace Dowies, Hayden Dowies and Kaylah Dowies; and a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 8:00 am to 10:30 am at Sterling White Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 am in Huffman Cemetery.
