Aleta Rosa Fuchs Bennett was born to Alfred and Rosa Fuchs, January 16, 1921, on the family farm near Pflugerville, Texas. She had two older brothers Kermit and Robert. She happily celebrated her 100th birthday on January 16th. Aleta passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021. She graduated from Pflugerville High School and attended Texas Lutheran University. She followed her Aunt Annie Bohls into a nursing career. Aleta graduated from Scott and White Nursing School in Temple, Texas. During World War II, she enlisted in the US Army Nurse Corps and became part of America’s Greatest Generation. She served as a triage nurse in Netley, England during D-Day. She was stationed in LeHarve, France, and Vienna, Austria. After the War, she returned to Texas and attended graduate nursing school at The University of Texas in Austin, where she met Billy Snell Bennett. They were married on December 28, 1950, and were married for 55 years until Billy’s death in 2006. She loved her family, Thanksgiving dinner, baking cookies, reading, writing thank you notes, and Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Rosa, her husband Billy Bennett Sr., and her brothers Kermit and Robert Fuchs.
Honoring the family as Pallbearers are Fox Bennett, Jared Taylor, AJ Schwind, Brandon Milum, Stephen McCormick, and Danny Fuchs.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Bennett, and his wife Leslie and David Bennett. She is also survived by her grandchildren Erin Bennett and fiancé Jared Taylor, Emilie and husband AJ Schwind, Fox Bennett, John Bennett, Brandon Milum, Brittany, and husband Stephen McCormick, great-grandchildren Lucas McCormick, Mason McCormick, and Easton Schwind, her nieces Diane Swanson and Molly Rasmussen, her nephew Danny Fuchs, and caregivers Debbie Matocha and Tammy Bennett.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 1:00 pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Highlands, 210 N Magnolia St., Highlands, TX 77562.
In lieu of flowers, Aleta requested that a contribution be made to the First Baptist Church of Highlands library or children’s ministry.
Due to COVID19, the funeral home will be requiring anyone coming into the facility to wear face coverings and to practice social distancing. We are recommending minimizing the size of services to help ensure the safety of our families and staff.
