Amanda Salazar

The goal of every generation is to do better than the next. Without out a doubt, Amanda Salazar, in partnership with her husband Santos Salazar achieved this goal. She worked at Plastipak Packaging for over 20 years. This job allowed her to financially contribute to the family household and attend to her children’s needs. There were days where she wanted to give up, but her drive was her children. Her goal was to put her kids through college so that they could be self-sufficient. Her goal was achieved as all three of her children achieved post-college degrees.  

Amanda Salazar passed away at home on September 1, 2020. She fought a long, difficult, three-year battle with fibrosis. Her family will miss her deeply, but they are relieved that she is in heaven now, surrounded by her parents and several brothers and sisters. They are happy that her lungs have been made anew and her grandchildren will now have a guardian angel watching over them. 

Amanda grew up in Rio Grande, Zacatecas. She was raised in a family of 12 children. Later in life, she and several of her sisters moved to Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. She worked at a record store, where her love of music grew. Little did she know, a young man working at a gas station within earshot, listened to the music she played over the loud speaker. He would enter the store to make song requests. He eventually got up the courage to ask her out on a date. The young man always knew how things stood in their relationship based on the type of music she would play for him. The young man became her husband, Santos Salazar, with whom she would have celebrated a 54-year anniversary this December. 

Amanda lived for her five grandchildren, Abraham and Samuel Greene, and Danny, Isaac, and Jonathan Salazar. Every time that she could, she would go to their baseball games and many school functions. She loved spoiling them and never used the word “No” when it came to her grandchildren. She also loved her children, Victor Hugo Salazar, Lilliana Salazar-Greene, and Fabian Salazar. Her bonus children were her daughter-in-law, Melissa Salazar, and her son-in-law, Gregg Greene. She has two surviving sisters, Maria Luisa and Eulalia Arias Fernandez. 

Amanda was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend. She will be greatly missed, but we will see her again in heaven, when the time comes.

El objetivo de cada generación es hacerlo mejor que la siguiente. Sin duda alguna, Amanda Salazar, al lado de  su esposo Santos Salazar, logró este objetivo. Trabajó en Plastipak Packaging durante más de 20 años. Este trabajo le permitió contribuir económicamente al hogar familiar y atender las necesidades de sus hijos. Había días en los que quería darse por vencida, pero su impulso eran sus hijos. Su objetivo era que llegaran sus hijos a la universidad para que pudieran ser autosuficientes. Su objetivo se logró cuando sus tres hijos obtuvieron títulos universitarios. 

Amanda Salazar falleció en su casa el 1 de septiembre de 2020. Luchó una larga y difícil batalla de tres años contra la fibrosis. Su familia la extrañará profundamente, pero se sienten aliviados de que ahora esté en el cielo, rodeada de sus padres y varios hermanos y hermanas. Están felices de que sus pulmones hayan sido renovados y sus nietos ahora tendrán un ángel de la guarda cuidándolos. 

Amanda creció en Rio Grande, Zacatecas. Se crió en una familia de 12 hijos. Más adelante en la vida, ella y varias de sus hermanas se mudaron a Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua. Trabajó en La Casa de Musica de Lux, donde creció su amor por la música. Poco sabía ella, un joven que trabajaba en una gasolinera al alcance del oído, escuchaba la música que ella ponía por el altavoz. Entraba a la tienda para pedir que tocara ciertas canciones. Finalmente, se armó de valor para invitarla a salir. El joven siempre supo cómo estaban las cosas en su relación segun los temas de música que ella tocaba. El joven se convirtió en su esposo, Santos Salazar, con quien habría celebrado  el aniversario numbero 54 este diciembre. 

Amanda vivió para sus cinco nietos, Abraham y Samuel Greene, y Danny, Isaac y Jonathan Salazar. Cada vez que podía, iba a sus juegos de béisbol y a muchas funciones escolares. Le encantaba consentirlos y nunca usó la palabra “No” cuando se refería a sus nietos. También amaba a sus hijos, Victor Hugo Salazar, Lilliana Salazar-Greene y Fabian Salazar. Sus hijos adicionales fueron su nuera, Melissa Salazar, y su yerno, Gregg Greene. Tiene dos hermanas sobrevivientes, María Luisa y Eulalia Arias Fernández. 

Amanda fue la mejor esposa, madre, abuela, suegra y amiga. La extrañaremos mucho, pero la volveremos a ver en el cielo cuando llegue el momento.
