Tribute

Andy Ray Cauthen passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on July 21, 2021.  Although his passing came with great surprise, Andy was confident that when the time came for his departure from this earth, his loving Savior would be standing at Heaven’s doorstep welcoming him in.  While Andy will be missed by family and loved ones alike, his departure has not left anyone who knew him empty handed. Andy provided every individual who had the pleasure of knowing him, precious memories more valuable than diamonds and gold. “The greatest of these is love!”

Andy was born February 05, 1966 in Pasadena, Texas.  Throughout his childhood and teen years he passionately pursued his love of sports. Amongst his favorites were football, weight training and golf.  While attending Dobie High School, where he later graduated from in 1985, he became an accomplished football player making the varsity team at the beginning of his junior year.  After graduating, Andy attended Sam Houston State University where weight training became his sole focus. As time moved on, that same focus shifted to fishing.  Andy’s love for the sport blossomed into a quest to one day open a nonprofit fishing camp for children with the purpose of strengthening families.   Andy shared his dream to family members and acquaintances alike.

The simplest of pleasures in life brought great joy to Andy.  He loved to visit with his neighbors or go on a weekend drive.  Often times he found joy spending time with family or his Rottweiler “Little Lady”.  However, the one common pleasure everyone recognized in Andy was his uncanny ability to find something complimentary in everyone.  It did not matter whether or not he knew the individual.  Andy found happiness in blessing others with a kind word.  Andy discovered pleasure in the things money could never buy.

Andy is survived by his mother Dianna Fulmer Cauthen of Highlands, Texas; his father, Charles Ray Cauthen of Mont Belvieu, Texas; twin brother Randy Ray (Lisa) of Cypress, Texas, younger brother Rusty Dale Cauthen of Highlands, Texas and nephew Marcus Allen Cauthen of Highlands; Special Aunts Sarah Leggio and Barbara Gregory,  and his dog “Little Lady”.
