Tribute

In Memory of

Annette Craddock Foyt Harris

Annette Craddock Foyt Harris, age 88, transitioned peacefully Friday morning, June 5, 2020, at Castle Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lufkin, Texas.

Annette was born March 11, 1932 in Strawn, Texas.  At the age of 10, she was adopted by William and Lois Craddock.  She graduated from Kilgore High School in 1949; one of seventeen students, then attended Lamar University from September 1949 to May 1951.

On September 15, 1951 she was united in marriage to John Foyt.  Following their marriage they made their home in Port Arthur, Texas, and had their first daughter, Leslie.    In 1952 they transferred to Lebanon, Tennessee, and had their remaining children:  John David, Leah, Lois, Laurie, and Daniel.  In 1961, the family moved to Baytown, Texas where Annette became an elementary school secretary and enjoyed working with children.

Annette was a gifted musician with a love for playing piano and singing her favorite songs and hymns.  She also enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and sewing.  Having a fondness for animals, especially dogs, she taught the family dachshund to sing along with her!

Annette enjoyed traveling during the Summer on vacations with her grandchildren to Disney, and to watch them compete in their various sporting events.   Her greatest love was watching her grandchildren participate in their many activities including volleyball, softball, basketball, powerlifting, baseball, football, and dance.  Some of the adventures included trips to Utah, Alabama, Florida, and Texas.

Annette was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, John Foyt; her husband of 10 years, Eddie Harris; her parents William and Lois Craddock, her brothers Robert and Fred Craddock; sister, Lexey Griggs, daughter Leah Lancon, and grandson, Rick Peterson.

She is survived by her children:  Tim and Leslie Hale of Marshall, North Carolina; John David and Michelle Foyt of New Iberia, Louisiana; Lois Rogers of Crosby, Texas; Mike and Laurie Burton of Lufkin, Texas; and Daniel Foyt of Baytown, Texas.  Nine grandchildren:  Lyndsy Colvin and husband, Clint , Lesah Lozano, Brittany Castledine and husband, Todd, Cristin Emshoff and husband, Clint, Heather Parker, Leigh Anne Rogers, Kyle Rogers, Allison LaPointe and husband, Rusty, and Jay Zavadil, plus 15 great grandchildren.  Pallbearers are Tim Hale, Mike Burton, Todd Castledine, Clint Emshoff, and Kyle Rogers

The family thanks the staff and hospice team at Castle Pines Health & Rehabilitation Center who cared for her the past few years with such love and attentiveness.  Annette was loved by the staff for her humor and spunk as they shared numerous stories throughout her stay.  The most memorable were those that included Annette barking out instructions while referencing her knowledge gained from having been a nurse!

Services are under the direction of Sterling-White Funeral Home in Highlands, Texas.  With respect to the current Covid 19 restrictions, a private celebration of life will be held.  Interment will be held at San Jacinto Memorial Gardens in Houston, Texas.
