Bernice Hawkins

Bernice Hawkins, 84, peacefully passed away on April 29th, 2020 at Houston Methodist Baytown. She was born on October 5, 1935 in Houston, Texas. She was known to be a feisty woman who never let anyone cross her, but would also open her home to anyone in need. Bernice will be remembered for her famous chicken & dumplings and for hosting extravagant holiday feasts.

Bernice was the beloved wife of her late husband of 39 years, Cliff Hawkins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clayborn and Gaynell Wingate; brothers, Frank Wingate, John Wingate, and Danny Wingate; sisters, Berti Currie and Kathy Triche.

She is survived by her brother Allen Wingate and wife Debbie; children, Buddy Ray Henderson and wife Karen, Henry Henderson, Tammy Miller and husband Mark, Scott Henderson and wife Gloria, Karen Skelton and husband Douglas, and Richard Hawkins and wife Patti. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several bonus grandchildren, and extended family and friends.

All services for Bernice will be privately held. Interment will be at Sterling-White Cemetery.
