Bobby Jake Davenport

Bobby Jake Davenport, 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 14, 2017. He was born on December 18, 1931 in Soper, Oklahoma to James Davenport and Dora Ashford Davenport. He worked 37 years for Harris County Flood Control retiring as Superintendent in 1987. After retirement Bobby was a member of the Indian Shores Golf Club, and later was a partner in managing the gold course for 12 years.  He was outgoing and was a popular man with everyone he met. Bobby enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing golf. He also officiated high school and college football, basketball and baseball over a period of 35 years. Bobby will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Roger Davenport; five brothers; and two sisters.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Betty Spurlock-Davenport; sons, Terry Davenport and Bob Davenport; granddaughters, Candace Nieto and Jennifer Davenport; grandsons, Jayson Davenport and Stevie Ray Davenport; great grandson, Robby Nieto; one sister; two brothers; and a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Sterling-White Funeral Home with funeral services following at 11:00 am.
