Carl Celvin Leechow

September 26, 1939 ~ September 27, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Carl Celvin Leechow was born on September 26, 1939 in Trinidad, West Indies to Ayoung Leechow and Agartha Lawrence who preceded him in death.  Carl met Christ at an early age and rededicated his life to Christ in 2014. He was committed and worshipped at Fellowship of Purpose Church until his death.  Carl studied in St. Croix Virgin Islands and Lee College Baytown Texas. Carl was a Certified Electrician and a member of IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). Retiring at Exxon Mobil Refinery after 28 years of service.  Exxon still knows him for his famous “Leechow Chicken”.  Carl was a friendly, loving and caring man. Carl was an avid gardener and hunter. He enjoyed feeding people in the Houston metropolis area with deer meat, homegrown vegetables, greens, okra and tomatoes were a few of his specialties.  He was also known as Papa to the neighborhood children for over 40 years.  Carl was a man willing to help whenever he could and will be missed by many people whose lives he touched.  He leaves to cherish his life and legacy a loving wife Jeanette Leechow; his daughter Kali(Joel) Leben (New York), a son Jonathan Leechow (Louisiana), honorary daughters Keneshia (Vonrick) Gibbs, Tomeka “Mickey” Ellis. Two godchildren Chanelle Godfrey and Patrick Morris. Four grandchildren Kalil Leben, Zion Leben, Ajalon Gibbs, Azavan Gibbs . Siblings: Trevor Amos (Trinidad), Annette Amos (New York), Marva Amos (Trinidad), Maureen Lawrence (New York), Bernard Amos and Wavney Amos proceed him in death, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Fellowship of Purpose 846 Ashland Blvd. Channelview, Texas on Wednesday morning October 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by services in the church. Interment will be in Sterling-White Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Sterling-White Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, Texas 77562.
