Dan L Jameson

June 22, 1937

Tribute

Devoted husband, Father and Grandfather

Dan Lacina Jameson, 86, died Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Bridgecrest Assisted Living Facility.

Dan was born June 22, 1937, on the Jameson Ranch just outside of Clifton, Texas to Maurice and Zeda Jameson.  Dan grew up on the Jameson ranch with his brother, Robert Jameson and sister Zeda Homoki.  As a young man, he enjoyed riding horses, herding cattle, helping at the family ranch and traveling into town to play football, baseball, basketball and track.  He lettered in all sports and earned a football scholarship to North Texas.

Dan loved spending time outside and ultimately pursued a career as a high school coach.  While coaching he met the love of his life, Shirley Nalls, in choir practice in Llano, Texas who he called "Sug" (short for Sugar) until the day of his passing.  Dan and Shirley where married June 11, 1968.

Dan never met a stranger.  He would carry on conversations and enjoyed getting to know every person he met.   Dan was quite the card player and he loved it almost as much as visiting with his children.  As much as he loved his children, they were no match to his three grandchildren, Samantha, Sophie and Jax. The three of them stole his heart the first day he laid eyes on them.

During Dan's life he was known by many names, coach, husband, dad, daddy, but by far his favorite name was what his grandchildren called him, "Grandy."

Dan is survived by his wife Shirley (Nalls) Jameson, sister Zeda (Jameson) Homoki and husband Stephen Homoki, daughter Trella (Jameson) Speer and husband Glenn Speer, son Heath Jameson and wife Julie (Lyles) Jameson and grandchildren Samantha (Speer) Armstrong and husband Jeff Armstrong, Sophie Jameson, and Jax Jameson.

He was preceded in death by parents Maurice and Zeda Jameson and brother Robert Jameson.

Dan will especially be remembered for his kind heart and gentle soul.  Thank you for being our counselor and the foundation of our family.  You are truly missed, and we love you very much, dad.
