She passed on to be with our Lord on May 26, 2018.  After growing up in Huffman and several other towns as her dad’s job moved the family, she graduated from Crosby High School in 1946 as valedictorian of her class.  Cordelia married Monroe Cunningham Ewell on July 17, 1945, and the couple resided in Crosby the rest of their lives.  As a member of Crosby Methodist Church, Cordelia served in various capacities:  secretary of the administrative board, treasurer of United Methodist Women, and volunteer for Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and Methodist Youth Fellowship. During the years her children were in school, Cordelia volunteered as room mother, band parent, and Parent Teacher Association. She was honored with a lifetime membership in the Texas PTA as well as other awards.  After retirement from the Crosby Post Office in 1988 after 22 years of service, Cordelia volunteered at the Crosby Community Center planning day trips for seniors, assisting with fund raisers, and as a receptionist at the front disk.  Cordelia also volunteered for many years at the Churches United in Caring thrift shop as the Tuesday cashier.  She was an excellent seamstress, making all her own and her daughters’ clothing. She enjoyed making quilts and being an active member of the Crosby Quilt Guild.  Cordelia was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Ewell; her parents; brother, Kenneth Harris; and sister, Melvina Landolt.  She is survived by her daughters: Dianne Cook and Daralyn Schubert and her husband Kenneth Schubert; grandchildren: Angela Weyand, Jimmie Clemmons, Jeff and Leslie Clemmons, Sammy and Robbie Schubert, and T.J. and Jennifer Schubert; great grandchildren: Chris and Chelsea Neuendorff, Natalie and Johny George, Emily Neuendorff, Jesse Neuendorff, Sophie Clemmons, Lillian Clemmons, Andrea Turman, Grace Schubert, Courtney Schubert, and Allison Schubert; great great grandchildren: Kyla Neuendorff and Connor George; and many other family and friends.  A visitation for family and friends will be held at Sterling-White on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 5pm-8pm.  Funeral services will be held at Crosby united Methodist Church 1334 Runneburg Rd.
