Donald S. Mahar ( Sarge) was born November 26, 1928 in Adams, Massachusetts. He passed away on Tuesday, April 14th, 2020 at his home surrounded by family.
He served in the Army Air Corps at age 17 and from there went on to be a proud Marine, where he served our country until he retired in 1959. Donald married the love of his life, Janet, in October of 1949 and in 1975, they moved their family to Texas.
Donald always had a story to tell, whether it was from his military days, or just his life experiences, you always pulled up a chair to listen. He always wanted to teach everyone what he knew and you would learn exactly how it should be done. Donald enjoyed camping in his younger years, building things, taking care of his yard, his pool and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Cecilia Mahar. Donald leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years Janet, two sons, Michael ( Tammie) and Paul ( Christy); and two daughters, Beverly and Cheryl. He also leaves to cherish his memory, eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger Mahar and numerous friends and extended family.
Donald will be missed by all who knew and loved him, but will never be forgotten..
All services for Donald will be privately held. Interment to be held at Sterling-White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, Texas.
