Dorthy Ann Loftin

February 12, 1927 ~ November 6, 2022 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tribute

Dorthy Ann Prestriedge Loftin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the age of 95. Anne was born in Midland, Texas on February 12, 1927 as the youngest daughter to Marshall Oliver and Minnie Mae Prestriedge. She was affectionately called “Dot Anne” by family and friends in her youth growing up in Midland and Jacksonville, Texas.

Anne was married to her sweetheart William Lee “Buck” Loftin, Sr. on October 24, 1946. They were lovingly devoted to each other for more than 72 years of marriage, and their union instilled a legacy of family values for the generations that followed.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Crosby for over 60 years, serving as a dedicated teacher of Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and leader of the GA’s. Her love of the Lord led her to lead a Christian life that impacted so many in her community.

A woman of deep faith and grace, Anne was the loving link that held together and led a very large family. She cherished family coming over to visit for her famous suppers, get-togethers, and spirited holiday celebrations. Anne was renowned for her cooking, specifically her Thanksgiving dressing. When she would share the recipe, she would omit one rotating ingredient to each recipient, ensuring that hers would remain the best. An excellent and meticulous seamstress, she sewed all her daughter’s clothes until they were married adults, as well as her own. She was adored by her grandchildren, who have treasured memories of sleepovers and summer fun spent out on the farm at “Grandma and Papa’s house”. Anne had a love for gardening and butterflies and took great pride in the beautiful flowers she grew each season. Above all, Anne loved her family.

Anne is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Kathryn “Kathy” Wright, son Steven Paul Loftin, sister Helen Gover and sister Jerry Jones.

She is survived by her children and spouses: son William Lee “Bill” Loftin, Jr. and wife April, son-in-law Stan Wright, son Marshall Kennedy Loftin, Sr. and wife Janis, daughter Jane Anne Barber and husband David, and daughter-in-law Dana Loftin; by her 13 grandchildren Ken, Chad, Ryan, Shelly, Rusty, Andy, Tara, Chris, Kennedy “Kent”, Leah, Laci, Steven, and Clint; and by her 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Maryanne Loftin Tarrant, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and loyal friend, Anne will be dearly missed by her family and all that knew and loved her.
