September 12, 1944 ~ May 11, 2022 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Tribute

Dovie Clay Henderson Sorensen, 77, of Crosby, Texas passed from this life to be with The Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Dovie was born the fifth child of six to William Clinton and Susie Faye Henderson on September 12, 1944, in Baytown, Texas. She grew up in Highlands, Texas and graduated from Deer Park High School in 1963. Dovie was raised in a very tight-knit and loving family. Her brothers and sister meant everything to her. Dovie loved sports and played them well; whatever the boys were playing, she was too. She wasn’t just a bystander, she got in the mix too!

When her brother Frank practiced pole vaulting, she pole vaulted right along with him. She was a handful as a sister and a person!

Dovie was an exceptional athlete and excelled in basketball for Deer Park, competing on the State Level with a victory her junior year in 1962. She was voted an All-Star of her team. Dovie was always a strong, self-sufficient person. She was blessed with two children, Kim and Nathan and enjoyed the life of a stay-at-home mother until she joined the work force in Industrial Distribution and spent the majority of her career working inside sales. In 1978, Dovie met the love of her life, Jack Sorensen and they were married in 1984.  Dovie became a business partner with Jack for Southwest Products for 24 years before retiring.

Dovie’s passions in life were traveling, shopping for antique china and collecting recipes. She was an amazing cook. She loved family gatherings, spending time with her grandchildren and relaxing on her back patio with Jack enjoying a cold beverage, watching the golfers and birds. She was extremely proud of her kids and grandkids. Dovie made unforgettable memories with those who were blessed to be a part of her life. She never met a stranger, was always the life of the party and kept everyone laughing. Our Lovie-Dovie enjoyed life to the fullest.

Dovie is preceded in death by her parents William Clinton Henderson and Susie Faye Henderson, her brothers, William Henderson, John Henderson and Jack Henderson.  Also her nephews Travis Henderson and Ronald Daniels.
