Emiko Honda Hans

Emiko “Ami” Honda Hans, 78, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born on May 11, 1942, in Kumamoto, Japan, to the late Shiza Honda.  

Although Ami was a simple person, she pursued many interests some of which included cooking her traditional Japanese dishes for her family, shopping, and gambling. She was a strong woman, who had a giving heart. Ami was a person who always thought of others before thinking of herself. Her greatest joy in life was not only being a wife but also being a dedicated mother to her daughter.

Ami was a loving wife, mother and friend to many who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother; her two sisters and her three brothers. She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory her beloved husband of 58 years John Hans of Highlands, Texas; her daughter Sophie Hans Rios and husband Ray Rios of Houston, Texas; her granddaughters Regan, Rissa and Remi Rios of Houston, Texas, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Hans will be held at a later date in May. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial contributions to be made in Ami’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
