Ernestine Stewart Boyd

Ernestine Stewart Boyd was born May 16, 1926 in Ben Wheeler, TX at home to parents William and Lottie Stewart and passed from this world October 21, 2018 surrounded by family.  She was raised in Primrose, Texas, Ernestine’s love and connection to and for animals became a lifelong passion and gift at an early age.  She connected with many: her blue and gold Macaw, her African Grey bird, chickens, dogs, and tamed and bottle fed Barbados sheep as an animal whisperer.  Calling the sheep from far, far away, they would find the voice to “babies, babies!” and eat out of her hand.  Ernestine felt what each individual animal needed and processed with knowing how to work with each one.

Family pride ran deep and Ernestine relished in all her time with all family.  She loved reading, Country and Western dancing, and staying active.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Highlands and a longtime member of Crosby Chapter of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lottie Stewart, and husband, Carl E. Boyd.

She is survived by daughter, Linda M. Boyd, son, Tony G. Boyd, daughter-in-law, Margaret, all of Highlands.  Grandchildren include Matthew C. Boyd of Glendale, Arizona and Robert T. Boyd (Elaina) of San Antonio, Texas.  Great Grandchildren include Jaxon, Avery and Sonora of AZ, Levi Boyd of San Antonio and a baby boy in early 2019.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Sterling White Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 also at Sterling White Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd, Baytown, TX 77521.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Sterling-White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd, Highlands, Texas.  To share memories and offer condolences please visit www.sterlingwhite.com.
