Esther Leazer Zwahr
January 16, 1935 ~ February 23, 2018 (age 83) 83 Years OldShare Tribute:
Esther Jocelyn Zwahr, 83, of Huffman, died on February 23, with her family at her side. She was born on January 16, 1935 in Moulton, Texas to Clyde Franklin Leazer and Martha Taraba Leazer.
The only girl growing up with three brothers in Crosby, she learned how to hold her own very early in life – and this strong, opinionated streak never dulled with age. Blessed with great beauty, she was known for being vivacious and very active within Crosby High School, with a number of activities and honors to her name. Shortly after graduation she married the love of her life, Reinhardt Zwahr Jr., whom she met aged 11 when they were partnered together for the school’s annual Maypole dance. They enjoyed a 63-year marriage blessed by two sons. Reinhardt preceded her in death by only six weeks; they were inseparable in life and now, fittingly, also together in Heaven.
She was the matriarch of her tight-knit family and ran her household with loving care, coupled with military-like precision. She embodied the traditional values of responsibility, loyalty and honor and this foundation guided the way she lived and raised her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking, and passed these skills on to her sons and grandchildren. She was a member of the Lake Houston Garden Club for many years, and formed a number of cherished friendships there. Above all she will be remembered for her love for her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Donald Leazer, of Austin; and her husband.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Ronald Zwahr and his wife Sandra, of Kingwood; son Gary Zwahr of Huffman; granddaughter Amber Zwahr and her husband Antoine Froger, of London; grandson Aaron Zwahr of Austin; brother Leroy Leazer of Bryan, brother Harley Leazer of Kosse, and many other extended family and friends.
