Gloria Nell Overby McGinty was born January 1, 1930, in Anna, TX and died at her home in Crosby, TX on November 11, 2021, at the age of 91. After spending her childhood in Anna and Van Alstyne, TX she moved to Houston, TX with her family while in her teens. Gloria met her future husband, Billy McGinty at Magnolia Temple Baptist Church where they married on September 30, 1950. Their daughter, Deborah Jane was born in May 1952 and their son, Randy Lynn in November 1954. After the purchase of their home by the highway department in 1967 the McGinty’s moved to Crosby where they’ve lived for over 50 years. Gloria’s life revolved around her faith, her family, and her friends. She committed her life to Christ in her teens and served the church by teaching Sunday School, working with young children, as well as spending time as the church librarian. She spent countless hours as a volunteer with CUIC and helped to serve lunches throughout Crosby. She was devoted to her Heaven Bound Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Crosby. Her love for her family was unconditional and that love extended to many longtime friends. Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Lynn McGinty. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Billy McGinty; daughter, Debbie, and husband Jim Welch; daughter-in-law, Helen McGinty; grandchildren, Sarah Carter, and Matthew Welch; step grandchildren, Jason Carter, Katie Elsbury and Bo Butcher; great grandchildren, Madeline Welch, Jacob Welch, Bentley Welch, and Jane Kate Carter; step great grandchildren, Braeden Butcher, Emma Elsbury and Evie Elsbury. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Her life was a witness to the love of Christ.

Visitation for Gloria will be held 1:00PM - 2:00PM, Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Crosby with services to begin at 2:00PM, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. All arrangements are under the trusted care of Sterling-White Funeral Home.
