Tribute

Harlan Lynn Broeker, 65, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019. He was born on August 27, 1954 in Houston, Texas to Walton Edmund Broeker and Dolores Gladys Kokemor. Harlan suffered many years from Multiple Sclerosis.  He was very active in finding a cure for this disease praying that no one had to ever suffer from this disease like he did. He rode in the MS 150 eight times raising money for research.  He loved riding his bike (riding 100-200 miles on a weekend).  He enjoyed fishing and camping.  He loved to travel and was fortunate enough to have traveled to many beautiful places in the US and Australia.

Harlan married the love of his life, Gayla, and they were married for 36 ½ years. He truly adored his wife and was a faithful husband to her. Harlan had a smile on his face and in his eyes all the time. He was very thankful to everyone who helped him throughout his journey. Harlan was a wonderful gentleman who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walton and Dolores Broeker; brother, Donald Gene Broeker; and Bevo the cat.

Harlan is survived by his wife, Gayla Broeker; mother-in-law, Newlyn Dupree; sister-in-laws, Shirley Hitt (Lyn) and Sharon Mietus; sister, Debbie Ashorn; nephews, Brandon Beauchamp (Vickie) and Wade Beauchamp (Kim); nieces, Brooke Lakner (Terry), Kayde Freeman (Lloyd), Alex Hitt, Libby Hitt, Kristen Vallery (Shaun), and Lindsey Smith (Kevin); great-nephews, Elijah, Micah, Jake, Henry, and Baby K. Smith on the way; great-nieces, Lila, Ava, Taylor, and Brooklyn.

A Celebration of Harlan’s Life will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Sterling White Funeral Home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sterling White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, TX 77562.

The family would like to extend many Thank You’s to the nurses at Omnix Home Health Care and Country Manor Assisted Living. They cared for Harlan with loving hearts.
