Janet Juanita Butler 64, of Lufkin, Texas went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2017. Janet was born on July 18, 1952 in New Orleans, LA. Parents are Albert and Patricia (Walker) Butler. Jan attended Houston Opportunity Center and Baytown Opportunity Center for a number of years before transferring to Lufkin State School and then to St. Gile’s Living Center (Karla House) in Lufkin. Jan Loved her friends and coworkers at the workshop and her group home. She loved visiting her Baytown Home but always let us know she had to go back home to Karla house. Jan was a great shopper and knew if you had a “card” you could buy things. Her grandma Mim, sister Vickie, cousin Flavia, and best buddy Sandy were always standing ready to provide a card for her use. Janet loved to work puzzles, color and cut out any pictures that caught her eye.
Janet was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Ted and “Mim” Walker of Baytown and Albert and Ella Butler of South Carolina; cousin, Michael Brannom of Baytown, and uncle Ralph Butler of Baytown.
She is survived by her parents, Albert and Pat Butler of Baytown; sister, Vickie Butler of Georgetown, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Vickie Butler of Spring, TX; aunt, Petra Brannom of Baytown; uncle and aunt, Walter and June Butler of South Carolina. Also surviving are cousins, Flavia and Gerald Bitterly of Baytown, Kim and Tyson McMahon, Keith and Deanna Butler, “best buddy” Sandy Fly of Georgetown, TX; nephew, Chris Butler of Virginia; and aunt, Sharon Gunn of Baytown.
Janet’s understanding of a lot of things was limited, but she knew that Jesus loved her, and she loved him. Nothing in life or death is more important. “Yea, though I pass through the valley,” she would say “not stay”. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 12:30pm-2pm at Sterling-White with Funeral services following at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Janet’s memory to the Baytown Opportunity Center and Bay Area Rehabilitation Center 5315 Decker Drive Baytown, Texas 77520.
