Janie J (Prochazka) York

Janie J. Prochazka York was born on June 24th, 1927 and passed away on November 10th, 2022 at 95 years young.

She was born in El Campo, Texas and resided in Crosby, Texas for 52 years. Janie spent the last five years living in Martindale, Texas with her daughter Janie Marie and son in law Eric Telford. In her early years Janie held various jobs in the Houston area.  While working at Hughes Tool Company she met the love of her life Harold L. York.  On February 19th, 1949 Janie and Harold married. They were married for 55 years until Harold’s passing in 2004.

Janie is survived by her four children; Harold L. York Jr & wife Martha Lynn, Michael J. York, Janie M. York-Telford & husband Eric, Robert (Bob) J. York & wife Carolyn.  She was proud of her nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and dearly loved all of her many nieces and nephews.

Janie attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 50 years. She was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters.  Janie loved to cook and was well known for her delicious Czech fruit kolaches and pecan pies.  She enjoyed her trips to Louisiana and travels with Harold all over the United States.  She never had a travel adventure She didn’t enjoy!

Special thanks to her support group of nieces, especially Veronica Hood, Frances Fuller and Kathy Helterbridle, and the family and friends that kept in close contact.

Visitation on Thursday, November 17 at Sterling-White Funeral Home in Highlands, Texas starts at 5 pm. Rosary at 7 pm

Funeral Mass to be held on Friday, November 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crosby, Texas at 11 a.m.

Luncheon will be provided.
