John J Burgess

John Burgess, 88, died peacefully in his sleep at 1:10 a.m., on Sunday, March 27, 2022. He was a loving father, devoted husband, and a believer in Jesus Christ.

John was born March 22, 1934, in Bokchito, Oklahoma to his parents Roy Burgess and Jessie Murphy Burgess. He was a longtime Crosby resident for over 55 years. John worked for Uncle Ben's a Mars company for over 50 years and was a Korean War veteran that served his country proudly. John had a love for farming, mowing grass, and camping.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Darlene Burgess; parents, Roy and Jesse Burgess; sisters, Loraine and Kristine; and nephew, Mike Rich.

He is survived by his children, Johnny and Connie Burgess, Melanie Yackel and Julie Neymeyer, and Tom and Darla Bumgardner. He has two sisters, Pat Rich and husband, James and Lou Osborn and husband, O.J.; four grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 12pm to 1pm,  on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Sterling White Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow in Sterling White Cemetery at 1pm.
