Joseph Damion Santiago

Joseph “Joey” Damion Santiago passed away on May 29, 2019 surrounded by family at the age of 10 with Star Wars Return of the Jedi playing in the background. He was born on August 28, 2008 in Baytown, Texas. Joey loved DC Comics, Star Wars (his favorite character was Boba Fett) and enjoyed playing football and baseball. He was a jokester, he always told people to smell his feet and liked filling syringes up with water to spray at people. He would go out of his way to give things to others, and even started his own toy drive “Joey’s Joy” to give gifts to the other children in the hospital who weren’t able to go home for Christmas. Joey loved making people smile. His dream was to join the Air Force and design drones for the U.S. military. Joey was a funny, compassionate, generous and stubborn boy who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Joey is survived by his mom Jillian Presley; dad Terrence Singleton; brothers Ezekiel Singleton, Kai Singleton, and Armand Singleton, brother-like uncle Jakob Protain; aunts Darian Protain, Raychelle McPherson & husband Dawson, Joancy Archeval and Nancy “Tatita” Archeval; grandparents Cara & Robert Protain and Nancy & Jose Archeval; and great-grandmother Shawn Protain. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at First Baptist Highlands Church, 210 N Magnolia St, Highlands, TX 77562. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sterling-White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, Texas 77562.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you donate toys & gifts to “Joey’s Joy”. The age range is from 8-18 years old. The toys are distributed throughout the holidays for children who are in the hospital. You may bring them in before the visitation or throughout the evening.

The family would like to inform everyone to feel free to wear Star Wars clothing or costumes in memory of Joey.
