Julia Beth Goetschius 64, of Crosby, Texas went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2018.  Julia was born on April 3, 1954 in Decatur, Texas to James E. and Lucille (Griffeth) Goetschius.  Julia worked as a software engineer for many years and in her free time she enjoyed sailing, woodworking and most of all spending time with her family and friends.  In 1998, Julie was diagnosed with cancer, which drastically changed her life. However, Julie maintained her passion for sailing, always finding time to race, coach, and share her knowledge of the sport with beginners of all ages. Her encouragement touched many others. She counseled fellow cancer patients and cheered them up with her clown costume and positive attitude. She delighted in spending time with her nephews, teaching them to love boating and the outdoors. She is preceded in death by her father, James E. Goetschius and brother, John Neil Goetschius. Julia is survived by her mother, Lucille Goetschius of Crosby, TX; sister, Phyllis Anders of Georgetown, TX; brother, William A Goetschius of Crosby, TX; brother, James Mark Goetschius of Crosby, TX; sister-in-law, Tina Goetschius of Crosby, TX; nephew, Colby Goetschius of Houston, TX; nephew, Ian Neil Goetschius of Crosby, TX.  Julia also leaves behind many loyal extended family members and friends whose enduring support helped to keep Julia’s life meaningful and vibrant.  A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 9am -11am at Sterling-White Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday,  May 11, 2018 at Sterling-White Funeral Home.  Graveside services will follow on Saturday, May 12, 2018 11am at Sycamore Cemetery in Decatur, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Julia’s memory to  Special Olympics Texas, C/O of Jack Yoes, 3620 Miramar Dr. LaPorte, Texas 77571 or a charity of your choice.  Services have been entrusted to Sterling-White Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd Highlands, Texas 77562.  To send the family condolences please visit www.sterlingwhite.com
