Larry O. Kinney Sr. of Baytown, TX went home to be with the Lord on Sunday November 13, 2022 at 84 years old. He went peacefully in his sleep. Larry was born to the late Benjamin Marshall Kinney and the late Sudelle Rogers Kinney on May 2, 1938. He lived in GA until 1960 and moved to TX where he started his life long career. He worked in various locations in TX in the petrochemical industry before settling into his final job for 31 years at Georgia Gulf beginning in 1981 through 2012. He became a jack of all trades to include but not limited to superintendent, equipment operator, pipe fitter, and safety. A few of the corporations Larry worked for include Payne Keller, J E Merit and Kellogg Brown and Root.
As he realized that he was a true Texan from GA he became the biggest Houston Astros fan of all times. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and slot car racer. His interest in music include gospel and country & western.
Larry is survived by his wife Kathryn Hyatt Kinney of 12 years who was a childhood acquaintance, Karyn Hyatt of the home, son Larry O. Kinney Jr. (Buddy) of San Leon, TX, son Thomas Wayne Kinney (wife Jane) of Lemoore, CA and daughter Leanne Kinney of Lake Charles, LA. Also surviving are two grandsons and one great grandson. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother James Emory Kinney, sisters Dorothy Kinney Hunt (Dot) and Sadie Kinney Golden.
Larry Kinney’s funeral will be held at Fisher Road Baptist Church in Baytown, TX at 12 noon on Monday November 21, 2022. Visitation will be held for family and friends 2 hours prior to the service.
