Larry Ray Toups, 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. He was born in Baytown, Texas on October 1, 1947 to Ira Toups and Mary Ann Bednar. When Larry was younger he was in boy scouts and helped his mom with her Handicapped Girl Scout Troop. He attended Lee High School where he was on the Swim Team and Water Polo Team. He retired after working for Lubrizol for many years. Larry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was involved in being a Sunday School teacher, Mission Leader, Bishop’s Counselor, Elders Quorum Presidency, Stake Mission President, High Councilman, Audio Visual Specialist, Employment Specialist, Ward Missionary and Temple Worker. Over the years Larry also was a Scout Leader for Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed playing golf, camping, kayaking, and going to the gun range. He traveled and geocached all over the United States with his wife, Lynda. Larry was a great cook; his specialty was gumbo and barbequed briskets and chickens. He most of all loved his family and took the time to be there for them and support them in their activities. Larry will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira “Frenchy” Toups and Mary Ann Bednar Toups Curbello.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda Kay Sumbot Toups; sons, Ryan Eastman Toups and Phillip Luke Pierce; daughters, Laci Kathleen Toups Brantley and Mackenzie Allyson Toups Hensley; granddaughters, Kylie Eastman, Addison Monroe Hensley, Janie Marie Brantley, Maya Pierce and Grace Mackenzie Eastman; grandsons, Wesley Bernard Brantley, Castle Luke Pierce, Corbin Phillip Pierce, and Tatum Jack Hensley; niece, Kristy Faulkner; sister, Sandra Kay Toups Faulker; and a host of extended family and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 10:30am - 11:45am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1010 Birdsong Dr, Baytown, Texas 77521. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00pm. Interment will be in Sterling White Cemetery.
