Lyle Paul Onarecker, better known as Lupe, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019. He was born on February 27, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York as Lyle Paul King, but adopted the Onarecker name after his mother, Ruth Snyder Onarecker, married her second husband, Dick Onarecker. Lupe was the first resident from Bellaire, TX to earn a boxing scholarship at the University of Houston. He earned the designation as Master Electrician and worked in the oil and gas industry as an Electrical Design Engineer.
Lupe enjoyed all sporting events, but his favorite was golf; he would go golfing any chance he could get. Lupe loved his family, he treated his step-children the same way he treated his own children. He enjoyed traveling all over the world with his wife, Sandra. Lupe “worked to play,” he enjoyed socializing, inviting people out and picking up the tab for them. Everyone loved Lupe and his good sense of humor. Lupe was a happy-go-lucky, unique and generous man who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Lupe is preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Ruth Onarecker; daughter, Tonyah Hartman; and brothers, Richard Onarecker and Kenneth King.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandra Onarecker; children, Cheyn Onarecker and wife Sarah, Duane Onarecker and wife Jermaine, Michelle Wild and husband Ted, Lynelle Onarecker and husband Bong Seop Kim, David Dewayne Henderson, Bennett Lynn Henderson, and Kyle Cowart; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
