Lynda J Hays

Lynda June Reed Hays, 72, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020. She was born on September 30, 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama to Truman George Reed and June Marsh Reed. Lynda graduated from Crosby High School. She went on to attend Sam Houston State University and while there she met the love of her life, Jim Hays. They got married in 1970 and spent their lives doing many things together from running their family business, breeding and racing horses to enjoying many PBR and rodeos.

Lynda was a very strong Christian and conservative woman. She was a member of the Crosby United Methodist Church where she mentored children through Kids Hope. She had one son, Shawn, but she helped raise many of his friends, enjoying having his friends in her home while they were growing up . It was important for her to educate children and give them the nurturing that they needed. She impacted the lives of many and will missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Truman and June Reed.

Lynda is survived by her husband, Jim Hays; son, Shawn Hays and wife Toni; grandchildren, Kaycee Hays, Shelby Bonin, Drake Tilton, and Sgt. Blake Tilton; great-grandchildren, Fallon Gehant, Brexley Tilton, Kolston Gunn; sister-in-law, Denise Reed; and a host of extended family and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers will be Wade Milner, Tannie Gillespie, Shane Welch, Heath Harlien, Royce Doskocil, and Vernon Reed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lynda’s memory to the Crosby Fair and Rodeo, P.O. Box 1546, Crosby, TX 77532

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00a.m. to 10:00a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Sterling White Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sterling-White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, TX 77562. Please join the family after the services at the KC HALL in Crosby for lunch.
