Dr. Melanie Rose Melancon, O.D.

Melanie Rose Melancon was called to her heavenly reward on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. She was surrounded at the time by her loving family and friends.

 

Melanie was born on August 24, 1977 in Baytown, TX to Pete and Marjorie Melancon. She spent her childhood in Deer Park, TX and later lived in Granbury, TX and Crosby, TX where she graduated 9th in her class from Crosby High School. She went on to attend the University of Houston where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry. She was the recipient of the Shipman Award, which is chosen by the faculty.

 

While at U of H she became a huge Cougar fan. She also met her love, Carl Krueger, whom she married on February 4, 2006.  She opened her own practice, Pearland Eye Styles in 2009.

 

She was a member of many diverse professional groups including the Exchange Club, Professional Women’s Business Club, Texas Optometry Association, and National Optometry Association. She was an ambassador for the Pearland Chamber of Commerce and was their 2016 Person of the Year.

 

She was an active parishioner at the U of H Catholic Newman Center.  She previously attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was very active in the Junior Catholic Daughters and the youth group. She was also a lector and Extra-minister of Holy Communion. She is God-mother of many children in the Houston area including her nephews.

 

Through all of her school, business, church and family relationships she has touched the lives of countless people whom she loves and who love her. She will be greatly missed.

 

She is survived by her husband, Carl Krueger; parents Dcn. Pete and Sharon Melancon and Marjorie Wilkinson; brothers Brian Melancon, Shane Badgett, Elliot Grimes and Pierre Melancon and wife,Jenn; grandmother, Lisa Prenzler; nephews Allen and Lee Melancon; niece, Ella Grimes and many aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. She is preceded in death by her brother Allen Badgett; grandparents Mervin and Onedia Melancon, Ted Wilkinson and Marjorie Flournoy.

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 19, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, followed by a 7:00 pm rosary at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday morning, May 20, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 915 Runneburg, Crosby, TX. Interment to follow at Sterling-White Cemetery.
