Michael E. Rains Sr.

Michael E. “Papaw” Rains Sr., 65 of Crosby, Texas, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.  Born December 23, 1955, in Nashville, Tennessee to Charlie Dexter Rains Sr. and Eileen Coughlin-Rains. Michael attended Mount Juliet High in Tennessee and later moved to Texas in the mid-’70s. He spent his career as a Carpenter until his retirement, although many would say he never retired.

Michael was an outgoing person and a Native Tennessean, but a true Texan at heart.  Some of his hobbies included camping, listening to good music, barbequing, fish fries (with no hush puppies), car races, rooting for the Astros, and cheering for his football teams the Texans and the Tennessee Volunteers.  His greatest loves of all were fishing and his family.

If you had to say one thing about Michael it was that he never met a stranger, no matter where he went.  Talking to him was like talking to an old friend. Michael was also known as a fixer of all things.  The best way to describe him was a “Jack-Of-All-Trades”.

Michael was a loving & supportive Husband and Father.  He was also a proud Papaw, amazing Brother & Uncle, and friend too all that knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Eileen Rains. He leaves behind, to cherish in his loving memory, a beloved wife of 30 years Diane Marie Rains; his two children Michael E. Rains Jr. of Highlands, TX, Megan Lund and husband Scott of Crosby, TX; his grandchildren Alesia Rains, Kayden Lund, Madison Lund, and Finn Lund; his siblings Charlie D. Rains Jr. of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, MaryAnn (Jimmy) Edwards of Nashville, Tennessee, John (Joanne) Rains of Nashville, Tennessee, Pat Rains of Smyrna, Tennessee and Kathleen Greer of Columbia, Tennessee along with numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family as Pallbearers are; Kevin Benfer, Billy Brown, Cecil R.A. Greer, Cecil Greer Jr., Eddie Lentz, and John Rains 

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family Friday, January 8, 2021, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, a Rosary at 10:30 am, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Sterling~White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, Texas 77562.

A celebration of life will be held at the Rains’ house, 2930 Skimmer Way, Crosby, TX at 2:30 pm following the service.  Food will be available for all.
