I am so sorry to learn about Michael's death; he was a wonderful guy back when we were all children at our grandmother's home in Port Arthur. It has been years since we've been in touch, but I remember him (and all of his siblings) with great affection. I have always regretted that we did not stay in touch. Again, my sympathies to all of his family.

Mary Lou Cox, I am so happy to see your post here. We wondered where you were, and I am happy to see this note. We had great times as kids, and I cherish the memories. Please send me your contact info. Our branch of the family still gathers during the holidays,, and it is incredible to look on the younger generations, and remember when we were the little ones.

Mike and I were friends during high school, and we used to hide in the library to talk about forbidden topics like politics and peace in the world because we both had an independent study period at the same time everyday. He drew little pictures, like political cartoons sometimes. Do not know if they were ever published in the Beacon. It sounds like he lived a full and creative life surrounded by loving family and friends. I sincerely hope he was happy since I think he was a gentle soul who deserved all good things. I hope to meet him again in future lifetimes!! Mike, onward and upward on your journey!

One of my favorite memories is when Mike would read the scripture for the day and he would start off with "can I get a mike check" -- loved his sense of humor - but I can't say I always "got it". Heaven just got a "MIKE check" -- RIP. Hugs to Liz and Sarah and family.

Mike would have been my phone a friend lifeline if I ever would have been on "Who wants to be a millionaire". RIP Mike, I enjoyed working for you

My heart is saddened for sure. Mike-e, as we used to call him at Siemens, was so intelligent and witty. I would love to hear some of his many quips from him again. He was a good soul. I'm sure he's already got God laughing out loud.

Liz, Sarah and family, we am so sorry of Dr Mike's passing. We know you have been through so very much while he has been ill by taking care of his needs. We pray you will find peace, comfort, and strength, to face your "new normal" without Mike.
We will always remember Mike on the guitar, playing Amazing Grace to the tune of The House of the Rising Sun, after Praise Team practices. We always will remember his corny jokes and dry sense of humor.

Liz, I can’t express enough my deepest sympathy for your loss. I seem to have found comfort in a poem by William Wordsworth and I pray it will give you comfort as well.

What though the radiance
which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass,
of glory in the flower,
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be;
In the soothing thoughts that spring
Out of human suffering;
In the faith that looks through death,
May God bless and keep you in your time of need.
Sincerely,
Susan Fritsche

Our dear brother n law, we will miss you so much. Over the years you have brought our family so much joy. Working with you at Hutchinson Hayes was the best and you taught me so much about the oilfield business. You were so good at your job and your teaching at the College. I ask God "why " so many times but I know he has his plans for each of us. You will hurt and suffer no more because your in his arms and his beautiful garden now. Rest in peace now until we all meet again!
God saw him getting tired
and a cure was not to be,
So He put his arms around him
and whispered, " come with me "
With tearful eyes we watched him
And saw him slip away,
Although we loved him dearly
We could not make him stay
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the Best.
