Pablo Munoz Jimenez, born on April 15 in 1924, slipped peacefully away at home on November 4, 2017 surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his parents Rafael Jimenez and Luz Munoz Jimenez; his Uncle and Aunt Vidal and Maria Munoz, who took him in as a young orphan; a brother Ramon Jimenez; his devoted wife of 53 years Maria del Refugio Oviedo Jimenez (aka Ruth or Cuca); aunts and uncles, cousins, and brothers and sisters in law.
He is survived by his wife Socorro; son Rafael Luz “Burr” Jimenez and his life partner Leif Vickers; daughter Theresa “Terry” Jimenez Araujo; granddaughters Elisa Magill and Leslie Tijerina and her husband Samuel; great grandsons Dylan Magill and Wyatt Paul Tijerina; great granddaughter Harley Tijerina; brothers in law Rudy Oviedo and Pete Torres; sister in law Faye Oviedo, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, not to mention the many lifelong friends who will all greatly miss him.
While he was not able to serve in the military, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at an early age and helped build cabins in Bastrop State Park. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus of St. Joseph Parish and loved working the K.C. barbecues and dances. After decades of service to Exxon, he retired and made taking the family camping as much as possible his new career.
Friends and Family will be received on Thursday, November 9th 2017 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 10th beginning at 10:00 AM at Sterling White Funeral Home with internment in Sterling White Cemetery.
