Richard E Haun

August 2, 1943 ~ January 5, 2022 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Richard Eugene Haun, 78, of Magnolia, TX, passed peacefully into the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ on January 5, 2022 at home with family. He was born in Oregon City, OR, August 2, 1943 and grew up in rural Oregon, participated in many athletic and academic programs throughout his high school years, and graduated from Canby High School in 1961. Richard is the third of four children, to his loving parents, Lyle and Juanita Haun.

In June 1963 Richard married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Haun (Brown). Then joined college pursuits in Oregon, Missouri, and Texas universities and while attending seminary he became ordained into ministry serving in churches in Houston and Baytown, TX.

Richard joined Houston Police Department in 1970 and in 1975 graduated University of Houston with degrees in Criminal Justice and proceeded to make a career in Law Enforcement. Richard was promoted though the ranks of HPD to Captain and he served the City of Houston for 35 years retiring in 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of 58 years. They were blessed with two sons, Geoff (Deb), Houston, TX and Gene (Starlit), Tyler, TX. Other survivors include: grandchildren Lyle, Kinsley, Ayden and Jaxon, Tyler, TX; sisters Cecelia (Ken) Calhoun, Ellensburg, WA, and Nancy Lynn of Tucson, AZ; 15 Haun/Crosson cousins; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lyle and Juanita Haun, brother Francis Haun, and his nephew Lance Haun.

One of many quotes we heard Richard saying was, “things that matter most, must never be at the mercy of things that matter least.” (Goethe). His smile, wisdom, strength, generosity and kindness will surely be missed. He is resting in the arms of the Lord.
