Robert D. (Bob) Crunk, 84, of Baytown, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. He was born on May 15, 1937, in Gonzales, Texas to parents John D. and Mary Crunk, who preceded him in death.
Robert attended Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown and then joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and actively served his country for many years. After his discharge from active duty, he continued to serve in the United States Air Force Reserves. Using his military training as he began his civilian life, Robert worked for many years as an aircraft mechanic at Ellington Air Force Base. He also worked a short time at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin. Robert worked as a quality assurance representative for DCAS in his last years of employment before retirement.
Robert was a master mechanic and could repair anything including airplanes, cars, boats, motor homes, lawnmowers, washers and dryers, air conditioners, and anything else that someone brought to him that needed repair. Some of passions included restoring old cars, camping, fishing, hunting, flying model airplanes, and spending time relaxing with his family. He was a long-time member of Grace Bible Church in Baytown. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Eunice Faye Crunk. He is survived by his daughter Allison Crunk; daughter and son-in-law Charisse and Patrick Sartor; grandchildren Cayla Bryant, Shannon Truitt and husband Taylor, and Jason Sartor and fiancé Courtney Shaw; two-month-old great-grandson, Timothy Truitt; his brother Raymond Crunk and wife Leslie; two sisters, Helen Blythe and Betty Sisson; his brother-in-law, Leon Cone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021, at Sterling-White Funeral Home, Highlands, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the Sterling-White Chapel with interment at Sterling-White Cemetery. Pastor Scott Griffin of Grace Bible Church will lead the services. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Mike McReynolds, Brad Bradford, Selby Goss, Jayme Lawrence, Patrick Sartor, and Taylor Truitt. 2nd Lt. Jason Sartor will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
