Tribute

After 39 years of bravely fighting breast cancer, Rosie A. Guerra passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the age of 79, surrounded by her children. She was born in Hargill, Texas on August 2, 1939 to Jose Luis Zamora and  J. Delores Cervantes-Zamora. She married Gilbert Guerra, Sr., and they were married for 54 years until his death. Gilbert & Rosie moved their family to Channelview in 1962 and remained in Channelview until their deaths.

Rosie was of a kind and nurturing spirit, she was dedicated to God and her family. After her youngest child was old enough to go to school, she began working for Channelview ISD as a school bus driver, she started out with helping the handicapped children, and moved on to driving bus #25.  The children on her school bus quickly became her other family, and she was very protective of them all. Rosie was an active member at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Her hobbies included, sewing, crocheting, knitting, making and cutting patterns, she took pleasure in designing and making dresses for herself and her young daughters. Rosie never lost her sense of humor   or kindness during the difficult setbacks of her fight with breast cancer. She was of an incredible strength that she has passed down to her children and grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Guerra, Sr.

Rosie is survived by her two sons & three daughters; Joe M. Guerra & wife, Rachelle, Gilbert Guerra & wife LaDonna, E. Christy Edwards & husband, Jim, Irene A. Guerra and E. Rita Coziar, grandchildren: Justin G. Guerra, Dustin B. Guerra, Cameron Guerra, Natalie G. Guerra, Christian H. Phillips, Paige E. Phillips, Cody R. Barfield, Victoria A. Barfield, Bjork L. Percy, Uriah B. Percy and Adain W. Coziar.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Sterling-White Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 827 Sheldon Road, Channelview, Texas 77530.
