Stephen Randolph Shirey – age 70 passed away Friday April 5, 2019 in Dayton. Stephen was born January 15, 1949 in Lufkin, Texas the son of the late Stephen Alexander Shirey and Edna Alexander Boston. Stephen worked as a heavy equipment operator in the early years working at plants all over the Houston area. A talented singer and musician, Stephen made a living entertaining all over the area. He was outgoing, confident, and never met a stranger. When he wasn’t singing, Stephen enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a past member of the Calvary Temple Church until its closing. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as a brother Clay Pollard and a sister Karen Sue Wiggins. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of forty-three years Doris Shirey, sons Stephen R. Shirey JR. and Ronnie Shirey, daughters Melissa Platt and Stacy Holt. In addition Stephen leaves an beloved Aunt Modelle Hargrove, two brothers, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation for Stephen will be held Thursday April 11, 2019 from 5-8PM at Sterling White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, Texas. Funeral services to be held 10AM Friday April 12, 2019 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Sterling White Cemetery.
