Walter Ray Strickland, 69, passed away peacefully with a grin on his face on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. He was born on October 29, 1952 in Baytown, Texas to his parents Walter Robert Strickland and Sandra Adeline Reynolds Strickland. He raised a beautiful family with the love of his life, Judy Ann Watson Strickland and always made sure to remind her just how much love he had for her. Walter was a provider for his family and made many sacrifices along the way as he raised his sons, Les and Jerry. Guns and deer hunting were his true passions in life. He was a Gunsmith, previous licensed gun dealer, member of the National Rifle Association of America, and a member of the Board of Directors for Bay Area Shooting Club. Over the last few years, Walter developed a strong relationship with God and knew him very well. Walter was generous and always willing to go the extra mile to help others. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sandra Strickland.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Judy Strickland; son, Les Strickland and wife Tammie; son, Jerry Strickland and wife Mandy; grandchildren, Miranda Woodruff and husband Connor, Ariel Strickland, Khylee Strickland, Shelby Sasenger and husband Michael, Nathan Strickland, and Emily Strickland; great-grandson, Easton Sasenger; brother, Carl Strickland and wife Gina; sister, Janie Ferguson and husband Jimmy; and a host of extended family and friends.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be Jerry Strickland, Les Strickland, Nathan Strickland, Lee Watson, Rick Trenary, Jim Cochran, Steven Turnipseed, and Dave Anders. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Ferguson and Carl Strickland, Allen Moorhead.
Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 12pm to 2pm, with service to follow at 2pm on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Sterling White Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Sterling White Cemetery.
