Tribute

William Turner (Bill) Legare, age 75, went home to be with the Lord on November 7, 2018 in Houston, TX.  Bill was born in Charleston, South Carolina on June 7, 1943 to Francis Y. Legare Jr. and Laura Laverne Bell. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Lee.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Henderson Legare, daughter, Mary Legare Mauzy, brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis W. Legare and wife Casey and Daniel O. Legare and wife Gloria, Granddaughters Paula Mauzy and Victoria Leizear, 10 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and great nephews and long time friend Karlene Denby.

Bill grew up in Charleston, South Carolina surrounded by many cousins and his grandparents and was a direct descendant of the original Legare family that settled in Charleston in the late 1600s.  He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.  Nothing brought a smile to his face faster than talking to or visiting with his family.  He proudly served his country in both the U. S. Army and U. S. Air Force. After his service he lived briefly in South Carolina and Maryland but spent the remainder of his life in Texas.  He worked in sales most of his life and enjoyed running, most styles of music but mostly blues, traveling to National Parks with his niece Laura Smoak and her husband Tim, and historical reading.  Bill never met a stranger and loved to talk about history of the American Indian, gunfighters of the 1800s and military history.
