William Clyde Vahl Sr.

William “Clyde” Vahl Sr., 80, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021. He was born on May 13, 1941 in Houston, Texas to parents August Lee Vahl Sr. and Minnie Marie Williams Vahl who preceded him in death along with his brother August Lee Vahl Jr.; and his stepson Delton Wayne Brinsfield Sr.

Clyde was a simple Christian man who loved the Lord and caring for others. He enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he was very proud of. He was a generous man with a youthful spirit who was fun to be around; always joking and poking fun to create laughter. Clyde retired from International Union of Operating Engineers Local 450 with 30 plus years; and Morris Export Crating Co. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Clyde leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Maxine Vahl; daughter Ann Vahl Toler and son by love Jeff Toler; son Bill Vahl and daughter by love Annette; stepsons Ronnie Brinsfield and wife Peggy, Kenny Carrizal and wife Karina, Robert Carrizal and wife Haydee, Micheal Carrizal and wife Kathryn; and Tammie Brinsfield Buchta; grandchildren Jeff Toler Jr. and wife Christina, Ryan Toler and wife Martha, Blake Vahl and wife LeAnn, Wayne Brinsfield and wife Wendi, Micheal Brinsfield and wife Ashley, Krystal Smith, Brandi Primeaux and husband Kenneth; great-grandchildren Ana Toler, Nathan Toler, Johnna Toler, Maci Grace Toler, Travis Vahl, Delton Brinsfield III, Devin Brinsfield, Abigail Carrizal, Eli Carrizal, Emma and Allison Carrizal, Zachary and Kaden Smith, Skylar and Raelyn Smith; niece Denise Beel and husband Mark Beel with whom he shared a special relationship; life-long friend of 60 plus years (brothers who did life together) Jimmy Warren and wife JoAnn; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation for Clyde will be held 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Sterling-White Funeral Home, Highlands, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Sterling-White Funeral Home officiated by Mike Everheart. Interment will follow in Sterling-White Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Ryan Toler, Jeff Toler Jr., Mark Beel, Jeff Wilbanks, Delton Brinsfield III, and Steven Few.
