Aubrey Eugene Scott

Gene Scott, former resident of Salida, Co, died February 5, 2017, at home in Baytown, Tx, surrounded by his family.

He was born May 12, 1929, in Lufkin, Tx, to Aubrey and Thelma Scott.

Gene owned and operated Scott's Building Supply in Highlands, Tx with his father, then moved to Salida, Co in 1972 where he owned and operated Scott's Ace Home Center on Highway 50.

After the death of his wife Margie Scott of 38 years, he married Betty Johnson and relocated to Fredericksburg, Tx.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years; sister Geri Cryer of Mont Belvieu Tx; children Connie DeLuca of Salida, Co; Randy Scott of Vancouver, Wa; Joan Scott of Santa Fe, Nm; John Allen of Baytown, Tx; Robbie Montie of Magnolia, Tx; and Jill McCagg of Baytown, Tx.  Gene and Betty Scott shared 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by wife Margie Scott and son Larry Scott of Denver, Co.

The family would like to thank Faith Community Hospice for the special care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at the Highlands Methodist Church in Highlands, Tx on Friday, February 10, 2017.  Visitation with the family will begin at 12 p.m. with a service to follow at 1 p.m.
