James Wayne McGowan

James Wayne McGowen Sr. age, 59 went to be with the Lord on Sunday February 5, 2017. He was born in Liberty, Texas on October 12, 1957 to Mary Louise Thomas and John L. Ross . He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing dominoes but most of all spending time with his family. He was a loving and caring easy going person who always put others before himself and he was loved by and will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father, his brother, Robert Earl Young; his grandmother, Molly Ryans and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rose Lee Tyler and Marshall Tyler. James is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Lena Rose McGowen; his children, Tambro McGowen Thomas, Tynesha McGowen and James Wayne McGowen Jr.; his mother, Mary L. McNeil; his sisters, Gwendolyn Hines (and husband, Larry) , Patricia Palmer and Sandra K. Ross; his brothers, Jessie Woods, Billy Dan Ross, Billie Ray Ross, John Taylor Ross and Tony Scott; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary L. Young (and husband, Charles), Barbara A. McNeese and Marshall Tyler (and wife, Sue). Also survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three aunts, one uncle, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church 7104 Homestead Rd. Houston, Texas on Saturday February 11, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by services in the church. Interment will be in Sterling-White Cemetery.
